IRCC: Survey for Refugees

The IRCC, on March 25th, has announced that they will be inviting privately sponsored refugees from the Group of Five and Community Sponsorship streams to participate in a survey. Participants will be selected at random and will be contacted online and in some cases by telephone.

The IRCC, on March 19th, has announced that due to an issue with systems, some people’s biometric data has been held for longer than the stated retention period. Those affected have been contacted.

Languages Canada Study Safe Corridor – TRAVEL SAFE registration platform upgraded

The Languages Canada Study Safe Corridor – TRAVEL SAFE
registration platform has been revamped and offers a more streamlined,
user-friendly experience for international students booking their Canadian safe arrival and quarantine package.

The new platform allows users to view hotel details, as well as
student and companion package pricing, before beginning the registration process. Additionally, a French version of the registration website is now available!

IRCC: Thousands of skilled workers invited to stay permanently in Canada

Approximately 27,300 workers with Canadian experience received an invitation on the 13th of February to apply for permanent residence. These workers fall under the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) of the Express Entry pool.

IRCC: Accessibility at citizenship ceremonies update

The IRCC has released new guidance on January 28th for the current citizenship ceremonies restrictions, including:

  • links to the audio versions of the oath of citizenship and the ordering instructions for the braille version of Discover Canada to help clients with the oath taking at a citizenship ceremony.
  • information about when a citizenship officer should use the Accompanying Person Declaration and Interpreter’s Oath form.

What languages do you speak?

English.

Where are you originally from?

Cape Breton, Nova Scotia.

What countries have you lived in?

Canada (Nova Scotia & Ottawa).

Where is your favorite place in the world and why?

My favourite place in the world is Nova Scotia. It’s one of the most scenically beautiful places in the world with its sparkling ocean views, 41 beaches, mountain vistas, and rolling hills. Its people are friendly, resilient, and fiercely proud of their province. And then there’s the Eastcoast music that fills our hearts and brings us home

What three words would you use to describe yourself?

Fun-loving, compassionate, & visionary.

What is your favorite thing about working for Eurocentres Atlantic Canada?

Meeting new people & helping newcomers to blossom.

What one piece of advice would you give to international students starting their ESL journey at Eurocentres?

When you’re learning English, you’ll hit hard spots at times, and that is when you’ll discover your greatest improvement. Never give up!
